Sewer & Water

All municipalities in Pennsylvania must comply with the Pennsylvania's sewage facilities program governed by Act 537.  The purpose of the Act and the Planning is to help address existing sewage disposal needs, and to help prevent future problems through the proper planning, permitting, and design of all types of sewage facilities.   All municipalities must develop and implement comprehensive official sewage facilities plan that addresses their present and future sewage disposal needs. These plans are modified when new land development projects are proposed or whenever a municipality’s sewage disposal needs change. DEP reviews and approves the official plans and any subsequent revisions.  For more information about Act 537 please go to Pennsylvania DEP's website
